We say goodbye to Ben O'Day, but welcome our new Girl's Director Cary Cusumano!

Effective immediately we announce the departure of our current Girl’s Division Director Ben O’Day. Ben has accepted a position as a lead Strength and Conditioning Coach for Quest Performance in Nashville, TN heading up their volleyball and hockey programs. He will design and administer workouts for athletes of both sports.

Ben made this decision with a heavy heart, but in the end the opportunity was in the best interest of his family. Ben had this to say about his time with High Performance-STL, “Hearing this might be getting old but I want to again thank HiP for the chance they gave me. I learned a lot in my short time with the staff and the club. I firmly believe that HiP will continue to change the landscape of girls’ volleyball in St. Louis. Good luck in the future and I will see you around the court.” We wish Ben and his family the best on their move to Tennessee. Sunday July 13th marked Ben’s last official day with the club, but I am sure we will see him around the gym in the future.

Wasting no time, High Performance-STL has found and chosen its new Girl’s Division Director, Cary Cusumano. Cary has been with High Performance for three seasons acting as the club’s Associate Club Director. He continues in this capacity as well as remaining the first assistant coach at Lindenwood University where he will begin his 8th season. Cary’s no stranger to club volleyball having coached club for 17 seasons, and serving as a club director for 7 seasons.

“Cary is extremely passionate about coaching youth athletes, and believes in the mission of our organization. You cannot keep Cary out of the gym, and if he could I am sure he would be in the gym 16 hours a day teaching and training players, teams and coaches. He is very much a teacher first and a mentor second, and with the improvements and reorganization the club is planning for next season, I could not have chosen a better person for the job. I am excited to see Cary lead the Girl’s Division into a very bright future,” said Executive Club Director Scott Mebruer.

Cary Cusumano had this to say about being chosen as the new Girl’s Director. "I couldn't be more honored to accept the position as Girl’s Director for High Performance.  There are a lot of great people and great families that contribute to the progress of our Girls program, and I am excited for the opportunity to aid in that growth. There is real momentum and real energy in the future of our club and I am excited to take the next step in my own involvement in that growth."

When you get a minute please welcome our new Girl’s Division Director to his new position. He can be reached at CCusumano@lindenwood.edu or 314-255-9926.
