Lots of action in D1, D2 and NAIA

Lots of news to report across all divisions of volleyball from this past weekend as Hi-P alums helped their teams to big conference victories by posting big numbers statistically.

In NCAA D1 action, Samford opened up SOCON conference play against UT-Chatanooga and Junior Middle Blocker Emily Meitz (2012) led the Bulldogs to victory.  Emily racked up 14 kills and 6 blocks as Samford got off on the right foot in conference play.  In Big 10 play, Purdue hosted Michigan and earned a hard fought victory over the Wolverines led by Left Side Hitter Sam Epenesa (2012).  Sam posted a double/double in the victory with 10 kills, 10 digs and added in 2 blocks as well.

In NCAA D2 volleyball, #9 Southwest Minnesota State beat NSIC conference rival Minnesota Crookston led by Sophomore Middle Blocker Sara Parker's (2013) gaudy numbers.  Sara put away 21 kills while hitting a ridiculous .690 hitting percentage.  Parker was a force on defense as well with 5 blocks and 4 digs.

In the NAIA, #19 Missouri Baptist had a successful weekend with wins against Monmouth College and Lincoln Christian.  The Spartans always rely on their defense, and Haley Pouliezos (2012) personified that with her play.  In two matches, the Spartan Libero tallied 66 digs leading her team to victory.

The Spartans are back in action on Wednesday as they take on AMC rival Columbia College in a battle of NAIA ranked teams.  Go see Haley and Head Coach Chris Nichols (18 Royal) as they make a claim for post season play!!!
