Coaching Background
Been coaching club volleyball since 1994, most recently as Boy's 18Royal assistant coach in 2018-2019.

Began coaching in 1994 as an assistant coach during summer's home from college at Lewis University in Chicago. Became the Assistant Coach for Lewis University in 1997-1999. Coached on NCAA Final Four team in 1998 at Honolulu , HI, where the LU Flyers finished tied for third with Princeton University, and behind UCLA and Pepperdine University. Since 2003 has worked with USA Volleyball's High Performance program assisting with their national tryouts and evaluation process.

Over his 26 years he has qualified 17 teams for the prestigious Open Division. Coach Mebruer has led teams to 14 Regional Championships and runner-up 7 times.

  • Assisted 18U team that finished 5th at 1997 USAV Championships
  • Coached 16U team that won USAV Championship in 1998.
  • Coached 17U team that finished 2nd at 1999 USAV Championships.
  • Formed Flyers Club in Romeoville, IL and served as first director and head coach of 18U team in 1999.
  • Assisted 16U team that won USAV Championship in 2000.
  • Formed St. Louis High Performance VBC in 2000.
  • Assisted 18U team to 2nd place in USAV Championship in 2002.
  • Coached 18U team to 5th place at 2005 USAV Championships.
  • Coached 18U team to 1st place finish at 2007 USAV Championship.
  • Has also coached the St. Louis High Performance 12s age group 2005-2008, during that time his teams won four Regional Championships, and had a combined record of 101-6-4.
  • Coached 17U team to 5th place at 2012 USAV Chamionships
  • Coached 18U team to 5th place at 2018 USAV Chamionships

Coach Mebruer’s players have played for their countries Olympic/National Teams (5 Players), the USA Junior National Team (6 Players), NCAA All-American Teams (8 Players), USA Youth National Teams(10 Players), Junior Olympic All-American Teams (38 Players), All-Metro Teams (Over 100 Players) and State Championship Teams (Over 150 Players).

He is currently the Club Director of High Performance-STL.

  • Transferred to Lewis University in Romeoville, IL in '94. 
  • Captain of '96 NCAA Final Four team that finished tied for 3rd place with Penn State University behind UCLA and the University of Hawaii.
